Yes, this was already in the loop before the nutcase went ballistic in Norway. Unfortunately he illustrates quite well how to some people the value of human life is negative. He believed shooting kids made things better. I can understand the reasoning behind going after political, military and even corporate targets in civil war and revolution. But kids on vacation on an island? Even I don't understand that.

Dear Grim,

I DO hope this doesn't mean you are stopping the advice column, I'd be lost without my twice-weekly insights into the workings of the world!

This is longest post I have received to date. So I must honor such with one of my very rare replies. It is obvious you put a lot of thought into your comment. However I must point out you did make assumptions that were not valid. So I will clear one those up for you. At no time have I said what my belief was, nor did I tout it or say it was superior in any way. What I did do was far more sinister to the zealots. I challenged their zealotry by the very rules of the zealot: Faith above all. And very few people can live by their own rules. Getting them 'zapped' as you put it does not prove my belief superior to theirs because my belief had nothing to do with the situation. Only their zealotry has anything to do with it. Not my belief, but theirs is what is being tested. And whether or not they accept such a challenge is not going to change them, enlighten them or get them to even think for one second about what they really believe versus what they spout. I am merely pointing out that the emperor has no clothes.
As for the other points, it is better that you learn about them on your own. You have great potential. So like the saying of giving a man a fish versus teaching them how to, I will give you a fishing pole. One wise saying given to me long ago by a very wise man. Although I thought I understood it at the time, it was really years before it's true meaning sunk in. Here it is, my gift to you: Always ask the next question.
